About the SCA

The Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) is a non-profit educational organization which focuses on life during the time period between 600 AD and 1600 AD. The primary focus of the organization is on European medieval life, but many people elect to study the Middle East and the Far East.

Members of the SCA learn to recreate life in the Middle Ages through 'hands-on' applications. We make soap, candles, armor, garb (clothing), jewelry, weapons, shoes, pavilions (tents), and many other things.

Many local groups meet monthly or even weekly. At these meetings and other events we talk, study, learn, revel, dance and make plans.

We are the Barony of Vinhold, in the Principality of the Mists, in the Kingdom of the West. In other words, we are the local chapter of the Society for Creative Anachronism which serves Napa, part of Solano and part of Sonoma counties in California. The Principality of the Mists is the Greater San Francisco Bay Area and the Kingdom of the West covers Asia, Alaska, Northern California and Nevada.
